From The Dickens' Village Series

The fire department's constant efforts to safeguard life and property make this fire station an important part of the Village.  Station No. 17 includes a hitching post sign with a brass plaque for personalizing. And here the horses aren't the only ones helping the fireman.  Originally known as "coach dogs" in England, the trusty Dalmation serves as the official firehouse mascot.
